Are they're finally starting to get it?

From Bloomberg.com as of today (06/03/2008):

"General Motors Corp. said today that it will close four truck plants, make more small cars, and may drop its Hummer brand of large sport-utility vehicles.

Gasoline exceeding $4 a gallon represents 'a structural change, not just a cyclical change,' Rick Wagoner, chief executive officer of the largest U.S. automaker, told reporters today before its shareholders' meeting in Wilmington, Delaware."

----------
I'd give a gold star to Mr. Wagoner for this statement - except for the fact that his feet are being held to the fire. Yep - it's gonna cost jobs though - plenty of 'em. And I wonder whose going to get the blame? I wonder what that lady who, with her tall sons, works at Powertrain and said on Network TV last Winter that GM needs to keep builidng SUV's 'cause her sons have long legs and need their 'big caahhs" has to say now?
